We are currently seeking volunteers for the upcoming Legal Minds Academy, hosted by Washburn Law Rural Programs here at Washburn Law in Topeka, KS.
This program was held successfully last summer at three collegiate partner institutions across the state. Numerous high school students participated and demonstrated incredible enthusiasm and interest in pursuing a career in law, and we are excited to continue building on that momentum with this upcoming session!
Event Details:
Date: Saturday April 25, 2026, Time: 9:00 A.M.- 3:15 P.M.
Location: Washburn University School of Law, Dole Hall: 2073 SW Washburn Terrace Topeka, KS 66604
We are specifically looking for attorneys and judges who would be willing to volunteer during two key portions of the day:
Group Activity: Interactive Moot Court Game, 10:15 am - 12:15 pm
Volunteers will man a station as students rotate through solving puzzles, gathering evidence, and more to support their "case". Your role is to guide discussion and encourage critical thinking.
Lunch Hour: Attorney & Judge Roundtable (12:15 pm - 1:15 pm)
An opportunity for students to speak with attorneys and judges about their careers and advice for entering the legal field.
We know this is a commitment of your time, and we are truly grateful for your consideration. With 65 students from all across Kansas already registered in just two weeks (WOW!), the excitement surrounding this event is clear, and your involvement would make a meaningful difference in inspiring the next generation of legal professionals.
If you are interested in volunteering, please let me know via email ([email protected]) which portion of the event you would be available for. We would be thrilled to have you join us! Or fill out this form: Legal Minds Academy Volunteer Form โ Fill out form
