Welcome to the Kansas Rural Lawyer Network! This guide will walk you through each section of the platform so you can confidently navigate, connect, and participate.
1. Returning to the Main Page
At any time, you can return to the main page by clicking the Washburn University School of Law logo in the top left-hand corner.
This logo functions as a “home button” and will always bring you back to the starting dashboard.
2. Main Sections Overview
From the main page, you’ll see several core sections of the platform:
Open Discussion Board
Membership Directory
Notifications
Messages
Job Postings
Events
Each section expands when clicked, giving you access to tools and resources designed to keep you connected.
3. Open Discussion Board
How to Use:
Share news, updates, or resources relevant to rural practice.
Post questions for other attorneys to respond to.
Comment on and engage with other members’ posts.
Tip: Use this board like a professional forum: it’s the best place to start conversations and build connections.
4. Membership Directory
How to Use:
Browse members by name, county, or organization.
Send private messages directly to members through the directory.
Tip: Keep your own profile updated so others can easily connect with you.
5. Notifications
What You’ll See:
When someone likes or comments on your post.
How to Use:
Click the Notifications tab to view all recent activity.
6. Messages
How to Use:
Access your messages via the Messages tab.
Send and receive private notes that only you and the recipient can see.
7. Job Postings
How to Use:
Post-available positions at your firm (e.g., full-time, internships, clerkships).
Include job descriptions, requirements, and links to applications.
Browse other posts for opportunities across Kansas.
Tip: Use this board to both recruit and explore career development options. Current law students are members of the Kansas Rural Lawyer Network: this is a great way to reach future job candidates and showcase opportunities in your community.
8. Events Board
How to Use:
Post details about local bar luncheons, CLE sessions, community gatherings, or other legal events.
Include dates, times, locations, and any RSVP or registration details.
